WCCN is pleased to present Seeds of Change, a new exhibition by photographer Michael Kienitz. Throughout the 70s and 80s, Kienitz captured the world at conflict in some of the most brutal civil and revolutionary wars of the era. Though the poignancy of his war photography cannot be denied, the photos of innocent victims living in a backdrop of despair were always those that had the deepest impact on Kienitz himself. Despite the chaos around his subjects, their resilience was reflected through Kienitz's lens. It is this resilience that Seeds of Change celebrates. In Central America, a region Kienitz once frequented, the gunfire may have ceased, but its people are mired in a seemingly unending war against poverty. Kienitz returned to the region looking for images of hope. Joining forces with Working Capital for Community Needs (WCCN), Kienitz portrays new images of resiliency in a reality where social injustice prevails. Through the powerful tool of microcredit, WCCN provides the working capital the poor need to put their futures in their own hands. Kienitz's keen eye gives the viewer a first hand glimpse into the power of a loan as small as $50. It can mean the difference between perpetual poverty and hope and prosperity for a better future. Seeds of Change celebrates this story of opportunity.
